
The five-year plan reshapes classroom management
A training course at Diyala University reveals innovative methods for solving teachers’ problems through an integrated practical model
The Faculty of Basic Education at Diyala University – Science Department, in cooperation with the Diyala Education Directorate – Educational Supervision Department, and in coordination with the Continuing Education Division and the Media and Government Communication Division, a training course entitled ‘The Role of the Five-Year Plan in Classroom Management and Solving Problems Facing Teachers Applied to a Model Lesson,’ with the participation of a number of teachers and students, which will last for three days from 2 to 4 December 2025.
The course, which was moderated by Dr. Israa Akef Ali, and presented by educational supervisor Adnan Kamel Khorshid and educational supervisor Taqwa Muhammad Jaber, aimed to highlight the importance of the five-step plan as one of the most prominent modern methods of classroom management and its role in helping teachers deal with classroom problems in practical and scientific ways based on planning, analysis, implementation, and evaluation.
The first day’s activities included a review of the most important pillars of the five-step plan and mechanisms for its implementation in the classroom, along with a practical explanation of a model lesson highlighting the detailed steps that teachers can follow when dealing with different classroom situations, thereby contributing to enhancing positive interaction among students and improving classroom discipline.
The course also included contributions and discussions by participants, who shared their practical experiences and asked questions about how to implement the five-year plan in the educational context and ways to overcome the challenges facing teaching staff at different school levels.
At the end of the training day, the course organisers emphasised that this programme is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4: Quality Education, which calls for ensuring inclusive and equitable education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all, through developing the capacities of teachers and adopting modern teaching and classroom management methods.
