Asa’iya Diyala organizes a cultural seminar on the spiritual significance of the Arba’een pilgrimage of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him)
As part of the launch of the sixth cultural season commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) and under the slogan “Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) is the symbol of our unity,” held at Diyala University on the occasion of the eternal Ashura anniversary, when the father of the free, Imam Hussein, his family, and his companions (peace be upon them all) were martyred, To promote cultural and intellectual awareness among students and highlight historical and religious issues with humanitarian dimensions, under the patronage of the President of Diyala University, Prof. Dr. Tahsin Hussein Mubarak, and the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Ayman Abdul Awn, Dean of the Faculty of Basic Education.
The College of Basic Education, in cooperation with the Diyala Education Directorate, organized a cultural seminar on “The Spiritual Significance of Visiting the Arbaeen of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him” in the Dr. Anam Al-Shibani Hall on the morning of Tuesday, August 5, 2025, with the participation of a large number of professors, staff, and those interested in cultural affairs, along with a select group of researchers and academics specializing in Islamic history and Husseini thought, as well as academic and cultural figures.
The seminar began with a welcome speech by Assistant Professor Dr. Ayman Abdul Awn, Dean of the College, in which he emphasized the importance of raising such topics, which form a central part of cultural and spiritual identity, noting that the Husayni cause is not merely a historical event, but rather a value system that represents a model of steadfastness to principles and resistance to injustice.
The symposium included a discussion of two themes. The first theme was presented in a scientific lecture by Assistant Professor Aisha Mahdi Adnan from the Directorate of Education, in which she addressed the dimensions of the Arbaeen visit in Islamic thought and its role in strengthening religious identity and human belonging.
