
The Follow-up Unit Discusses the best ways to fight corruption
Towards an honest university environment… Members of the University Follow-up Unit at Diyala University discuss ways to tackle corruption in a workshop organized by the University Follow-up Department
As part of efforts to promote the concepts of integrity and transparency within the university environment, a number of members of the Follow-up Unit at the Faculty of Basic Education, University of Diyala, participated in an extensive training workshop entitled “Students and their role in combating corruption”,
organized by the Continuing Education Center at Diyala University on the morning of Tuesday, September 15, 2025, in the presence of representatives from follow-up units in all university formations and a number of specialists in administrative and supervisory affairs.
The workshop was presented by the director of the university’s follow-up department, Dr. Haitham Ali Abdullah, and assistant lecturer Arkan Taha Ismail, who gave a detailed presentation on the concept of administrative and financial corruption in educational institutions, its forms, and its negative effects on the academic system, emphasizing the importance of university students’ awareness of their role in addressing any manifestation of corruption, whether administrative, behavioral, or financial.
The workshop also focused on ways to empower students to exercise ethical oversight within the university, mechanisms for reporting cases of corruption, and the importance of communicating with follow-up units in a responsible manner, free from slander or rumors, in a safe environment that guarantees the protection of the whistleblower and the confidentiality of information.
The workshop witnessed active discussions among the participants, during which many ideas and proposals were put forward that contribute to activating student oversight within the university campus, thereby enhancing a culture of integrity and good citizenship.
This participation is part of a series of activities aimed at building a sound educational environment, in line with the college’s vision and mission to promote the principles of transparency and accountability within educational institutions.
