
A college flourishing with greenery
A tree planting campaign transforms the corridors and gardens of Diyala University into vibrant green oases
The Faculty of Basic Education at Diyala University, through its Student Activities Division, Volunteer Work Unit and Maintenance Unit, and in coordination with the Media and Government Communication Division, a large-scale tree planting campaign that included planting evergreen trees and flowers in the college’s corridors and gardens and around its walls, in a step aimed at enhancing the academic environment and making it more attractive and healthy.
The campaign aims to increase green spaces within the college, improve air quality, promote environmental awareness among students, and create a sustainable and attractive learning environment that reflects the civilised and distinguished image of the educational institution.
The campaign was widely praised by those in charge of it, as well as by students and professors, who emphasised the importance of such initiatives in promoting environmental awareness and developing a sense of volunteerism and community spirit. The Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Ayman Abdul Aoun, also praised these efforts, stressing the need to continue such campaigns to promote environmental aesthetics and awareness among everyone.
This campaign is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), by creating green spaces in the educational environment that enhance quality of life and support environmental sustainability.
