
A PhD Dissertation in Three Minutes
Under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education, Diyala University hosts the “Thesis in 3 Minutes” competition
Under the patronage of the President of Diyala University, Prof. Dr. Tahseen Hussein Mubarak, the university hosted the “3-Minute Thesis” (3MT) competition on Sunday, 14/9/2025, which was held under the supervision of the Research and Development Department at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, with the participation of a number of department heads at the university.
The President of the University confirmed in a statement that: “This competition was held in response to the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and in line with its approach to promoting scientific competition among postgraduate students and hone their skills in presenting research projects in an innovative and concise manner, noting that this scientific experience contributes to raising the efficiency of students and highlighting their research capabilities before academic committees.
The competition, which was attended by the Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Amer Mohamed Ibrahim, witnessed the participation of 23 students from various scientific and humanities disciplines, each of whom presented a concise presentation of their research in just three minutes.
Dr. Yasser Amer Abbas, Director of the Electronic Calculator Center, explained that the supervisory committee, which included representatives from the ministry and the university, adopted precise evaluation criteria and ended up selecting two outstanding students, one from the scientific disciplines and the other from the humanities.
At the end of the event, the organizers noted that the competition embodies one of the seventeen sustainable development goals, specifically the fourth goal related to ensuring quality education by stimulating creativity and innovation in a competitive academic environment.
