An MA Thesis about P.Q.4R strategy
Master’s thesis at Diyala University discusses the impact of the P.Q.4R strategy on reflective thinking and learning basic handball skills for students
A master’s thesis entitled “The Impact of the P.Q.4R Strategy on Reflective Thinking and Learning Some Basic Handball Skills for Students” was discussed at the Faculty of Basic Education at the University of Diyala in the field of physical education and sports science teaching methods.
The study, presented by student Hamza Muhammad Hussein, aimed to prepare teaching units in accordance with the P.Q.4R strategy in reflective thinking and learning some basic handball skills for students. It also aimed to identify the differences between the pre- and post-test results in reflective thinking and the basic skills under study in handball for students in the experimental and control groups.
The study reached a number of conclusions, most notably: The PQ4R strategy provides opportunities for students to participate by motivating them to think and reflect in order to find solutions to the problems they face in the educational process. The use of the PQ4R strategy helped guide students toward using organized methods to divide content into elements that are easy to understand and apply. It also helped them improve their basic handball skills through clear interaction with the lesson. It also helped them solve problems and search for answers through cooperation between students. It provided a positive environment through diversity in exercises, which made the units more exciting and enjoyable for students, contributing to the experimental group’s superiority over the control group in post-tests.
The study recommended the need to emphasize the importance of the PQ4R strategy to teachers and to develop teaching units based on the PQ4R strategy for them. It also recommended conducting studies similar to the current study.
