
Basic Education launches its orientation week
Diyala Basic Education College launches its orientation week in the presence of the university’s assistant president for scientific affairs and an awareness programme that reshapes students’ awareness
In accordance with the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research / Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority / University Supervision Department, and pursuant to the instructions of the Presidency of Diyala University, the College of Basic Education – Guidance Unit, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Division and the Media and Government Communication Division, announced the launch of the college’s guidance week, which was opened by Prof. Dr. Amer Mohammed Ibrahim, Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, with the participation of a number of teachers and students.
The Guidance Week began on its first day with an awareness-raising seminar for fourth-year students entitled: ‘Our graduation is a responsibility… before it is a joy.’
It was presented by Prof. Dr. Maha Mohamed Saleh and Prof. Dr. Sanaa Ali Hassoun, with the aim of educating students and guiding them on the need to adhere to appropriate university behaviour and the requirements of graduation ceremonies in terms of respect for academic regulations, controls and customs.
The first day’s programme also included the preparation of awareness and guidance posters distributed in the corridors and halls of the college, carrying messages that encourage awareness and responsible university behaviour and promote the values of discipline and refined conduct within the educational environment.
The head of the guidance unit at the college, Dr. Sana Ali Hassoun, emphasised that the aim of this week is to raise student awareness, develop responsible university behaviour, and provide a supportive environment for students that helps them adhere to proper academic and social values.
The seminar featured a speech by the Vice President for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Amer Mohamed Ibrahim, who praised the excellent preparation and organisation, as well as the disciplined behaviour of the college’s students and professors during the event. He emphasised the high level of academic and cultural organisation and praised the efforts made to provide meaningful activities that enhance the student spirit and support the educational process.
For his part, the Dean of the Faculty, Assistant Professor Dr. Ayman Abdul Aoun, expressed his thanks and gratitude for this praise, affirming the commitment of the Faculty of Basic Education to all the directives of the Ministry and the University and to continuing to work to enhance student awareness and develop the university environment. He also emphasised the importance of educational guidance programmes in building the personality of university students and enhancing their academic and social skills, pointing to the role of this week in establishing a conscious and supportive environment for students.
These events come within the framework of the college’s ongoing efforts to promote a positive university environment and provide support and guidance to students, thereby contributing to the development of their abilities, the achievement of their academic goals, and the balanced development of their university personalities.
In line with the college’s commitment to national and international standards, the implementation of the orientation week is consistent with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, in particular: Goal 4 (Quality Education) by supporting students with conscious guidance and responsible university behaviour. Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by promoting awareness of healthy and social behaviours. Goal 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) by instilling discipline, mutual respect and commitment to rules. Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by building a conscious, responsible and active university community that serves its surroundings.
