Basic Education professors hone students’ skills through practical experience
As part of the applied scientific plan of the Computer Science Department at the College of Basic Education – University of Diyala, and in order to link theory with practical experience in the field of education, a group of faculty professors conducted a field visit to Al-Nahrain Elementary School for Girls in Diyala Governorate and Um Al-Banin Middle School for Girls, as part of the requirements of the observation course for fourth-year students in the morning programme.
The visit was led by Prof. Hayam Gaib Hussein and Prof. Jaafar Jassim Hassan.
The professors were accompanied by a group of fourth-year students from the Computer Science Department, with the aim of gaining first-hand insight into the educational reality in schools and applying classroom observation skills in line with modern academic contexts.
For their part, the administration of Al-Nahrain Elementary School for Girls and Am Al-Baneen Middle School expressed their great appreciation for this meaningful academic initiative, praising the positive interaction of the students and the remarkable keenness of the supervising professors to guide them and help them understand the real educational work environment. The visit provided students with the opportunity to learn about classroom management techniques, educational interaction, the challenges teachers face in the classroom, and the educational relationship between teachers and students, thereby helping to hone their educational and training skills before entering the profession.
The college affirmed its commitment to continuing these practical initiatives that combine knowledge and experience and contribute to building a generation of educators who are qualified and competent in both theory and practice.
This field visit is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in particular: Goal 4: Quality education, through supporting teacher preparation programmes and developing their skills through practical training.
