Diyala Basic Library opens the first comprehensive electronic portal for knowledge at Diyala University
As part of the Faculty of Basic Education at Diyala University’s efforts to keep pace with technological developments and the shift towards a digital academic environment, the faculty’s library division has achieved a remarkable electronic milestone, the first of its kind at the university level, by preparing comprehensive electronic records of all the library’s holdings, including books, theses, and dissertations, making them easily accessible to students and researchers.
This project stems from the faculty library’s keenness to ensure the convenience of its users and save them time, as traditional manual searches have been replaced by an integrated electronic system that allows users to view the library’s contents via a dedicated electronic application launched on the library’s channel on the Telegram channel, which is a pioneering step towards transforming the college library into an electronic library accessible to all.
This qualitative achievement was prepared by the librarian, Ms. Yusra Salman Hadi Al-Jabouri, who worked on designing and organizing the electronic records according to precise scientific and academic standards that ensure easy access to sources of knowledge and keep pace with the requirements of modern education.
For his part, the dean of the college, Assistant Professor Dr. Ayman Abdul Aoun, praised this pioneering effort, stressing that this project reflects the college’s keenness to adopt the electronic approach called for by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the university presidency, and is an important step towards building a smart university environment that keeps pace with the digital transformation in education and academic services.
This achievement is part of the college’s efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), by employing technology in the development of the educational process and expanding access to sources of knowledge, thereby enhancing the quality of education and serving the academic and research process.
