Assistant Dean for Student Affairs at Diyala Basic Education discusses a master’s thesis at the Faculty of Islamic Sciences at Diyala University
Prof. Dr. Omar Rahman Hamid, Assistant Dean for Student Affairs at the Faculty of Basic Education, discussed a master’s thesis entitled “Abu Awsaja’s sayings in the strangeness of the Qur’an mentioned by Al-Mataredi in his interpretation from Surat Al-Maida to the end of Surat Al-Tawba – a collection and study). For the student Nihad Hussein Wahab from the Faculty of Islamic Sciences at the University of Diyala
The study aimed to collect the sayings of Abu Awsaja in the strangeness of the Quran as mentioned in the interpretation of Imam al-Maturidi in the passage extending from Surat al-Maida to the end of Surat al-Tawba, with analysis and comparison with the sayings of scholars of interpretation and language, to show the extent of their agreement or difference with them in terms of acceptance or rejection.
The study dealt with monitoring and analyzing the statements of the linguist Abu Awsaja in interpreting the strange words contained in the Holy Qur’an, as reported by Imam Abu Mansur al-Maturidi in his Tafsirat Ahl al-Sunnah.
The study relied on the inductive method, by tracing all the places where Abu Awsaja’s sayings are mentioned in Al-Maturidi’s Tafsir within the suras (Al-Maida to Al-Tawba), and then moved to the comparative method, where these sayings were analyzed and compared with those of linguists, exoticists and exegetes, to reveal the extent of their agreement or disagreement with them.
