
Mr. Dean Meets the College Students
Dean of Diyala University listens to students’ concerns in an open academic meeting that shapes university character and embodies the values of belonging, responsibility, and patriotism
As part of the implementation of the college dean’s annual plan to promote direct communication between students and academic leaders, the college organized a dialogue meeting with students from the Department of Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance, attended by Professor Dr. Sahib Abdullah Hamad, head of the department, and a number of the department’s teaching staff.
The meeting was opened by the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Ayman Abdul Aoun, with a welcoming speech in which he expressed his pride in the students of the department, emphasizing that these meetings are part of the college’s efforts to build a conscious generation capable of assuming scientific and moral responsibility and keeping pace with the requirements of society.
The meeting included three main themes in which the Dean addressed a set of educational and developmental guidelines: The first theme focused on building the personality of university students and developing their intellectual and behavioral skills in line with the university’s values and academic mission. The second theme emphasized strengthening positive relationships between students, their peers, and their professors, instilling values of mutual respect and discipline, and stressing the importance of preserving college property as a collective responsibility that reflects students’ awareness and belonging. The third theme highlighted the importance of instilling a love for the homeland and a genuine sense of belonging to the community, encouraging students to work hard in their studies and to work cooperatively to serve their educational institutions and their country.
For his part, Dr. Sahib Abdullah Hamad, Head of the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Department, praised this fruitful meeting, stressing that such meetings contribute to deepening the dialogue between students and teaching staff and help create a university environment that supports learning and self-development.
At the end of the meeting, the students expressed their thanks and appreciation to the Dean for his continued interest in their academic and educational affairs, emphasizing that these meetings have a positive impact on their university career.
This activity is part of the college’s efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), by instilling the values of citizenship and responsibility and building an educational environment based on respect, belonging, and teamwork.
