On Sunday, September 14, 2025, the President of the University of Diyala, Prof. Dr. Tahseen Hussein Mubarak, chaired the University’s International Rankings Committee to discuss ways to enhance the University’s position in international rankings, particularly the Arab University Rankings.
At the beginning of the meeting, the University President emphasized the importance of continuing efforts to consolidate the university’s presence in international rankings by maintaining the momentum of scientific publication in reputable international journals and entering new rankings that meet sustainable development criteria and promote research integrity. He also stressed the importance of making the Arab ranking of Arab universities a priority for the coming period, praising the efforts of the committee and university staff, which have resulted in the university achieving high rankings in a number of national and international rankings, while emphasizing the need to comply with the relevant instructions of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The committee discussed the methodology of the Arab ranking, which is based on several main axes, including: teaching and learning (teacher-student ratio, faculty qualifications, diversity of academic programs), scientific research (number of published research papers, scientific citations, research collaboration), community and environmental service (community initiatives, local and regional partnerships), academic reputation (academic and professional opinion polls), and internationalization and cooperation (international students, cooperation projects, academic agreements).
The participants agreed to distribute tasks among the relevant units to prepare a comprehensive database containing statistics on the number of faculty members and students, research output published in global repositories, as well as details of community service and activities.
