
Prof. Caroline Sanders Delivers a lecture about Khan Bani Saad
Basic Diyala hosts a visiting professor from the British University to give a lecture on the archaeology of Diyala Governorate
Within the steps of the Deanship of the College, represented by Assistant Professor Dr. Ayman Abdul Awn Nazzal in the scientific openness and exchange of scientific expertise with international universities, the Faculty of Basic Education at the University of Diyala hosted a visiting professor, Prof. Caroline Sanders, a specialist in archaeology from the British University UCL, to deliver a scientific lecture entitled (Khan Bani Saad between the ancient history and the bright future) with the participation of a number of professors, researchers and graduate students in the Department of History.
The lecture, delivered by visiting professors Prof. Caroline Sanders and Dr. Saif Tawfiq Ibrahim and translated by Assistant Professor Dr. Maysa Rida Jawad, aimed to shed light on the stages of restoring the archaeological monuments in Diyala Governorate, especially Khan Bani Saad.
The lecture dealt with a historical review of the archaeological site Khan Bani Saad, as well as identifying the most prominent archaeological sites in Diyala province, their historical and civilizational importance, in addition to the challenges facing the preservation of this important cultural heritage, and possible cooperation mechanisms between local and international academic institutions in the field of documentation and protection. In addition to the excavation and archaeological survey work within international cooperation projects in the field of preserving Iraqi heritage.
For her part, the visiting professor expressed her pleasure to visit the college, praising the increasing academic interest in archaeology in Iraq, especially in areas that have not received their right to research and documentation, such as Diyala.
At the end of the lecture, the floor was opened for discussion and questions from the audience, which gave the lecture an important scientific and interactive character.
