
The College Council Takes Place
The Basic Council of Diyala draws up a renewed academic plan that combines excellence, quality, and institutional belonging
The Basic Education Faculty Council held its second meeting for the 2025–2026 academic year on Sunday morning, October 26, 2025, in the meeting hall, chaired by Assistant Professor Dr. Ayman Abdul Aoun, Dean of the Faculty, and attended by the heads of the scientific departments and all members of the Council.
The Dean began the meeting by emphasizing the importance of optimal preparation to welcome new students accepted under the central admission plan, stressing the need to deal positively and professionally with students and their families in a manner that reflects the identity of the college as a reputable academic institution that embraces everyone and contributes to building a stimulating educational environment for learning and interaction, in line with the quality standards adopted by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The Dean also directed that all administrative, academic, and service requirements be prepared for the new academic year to ensure a smooth start to the educational process. He pointed out the importance of fostering a sense of belonging among students, instilling values of cooperation and mutual respect, and emphasizing the preservation of college property as a shared responsibility that reflects students’ awareness and discipline.
The Council addressed a number of scientific and administrative issues on its agenda, most notably the follow-up on the implementation of the scientific plan for the departments, the need to activate student and research activities, as well as exploring the possibility of including sustainable development vocabulary in the curriculum in line with the college’s approach to preparing students who possess environmental, social, and developmental awareness.
The Council also discussed setting a date to celebrate the top students for the 2024-2025 academic year, in recognition of their academic excellence and to motivate other students to work hard and strive for excellence, in addition to following up on the completion rates of scientific projects and infrastructure within the college.
At the end of the meeting, the Dean directed the Council members to continue working as a team to achieve the college’s goals and vision of improving academic and administrative performance and serving students and the community in a manner befitting its scientific status.
The Faculty Council meeting is part of its commitment to achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, in particular: Goal 4 (Quality Education): by ensuring quality and inclusive education opportunities for all students. Goal 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions): By building a university environment based on cooperation, responsibility, and good governance. Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities): By strengthening the college’s role in protecting academic and cultural heritage and serving the local community.
