Towards academic transparency and digitization of procedures… Essential Diyala organizes a workshop on the electronic system for academic promotions
As part of its efforts to develop academic performance and enhance the efficiency of evaluation and promotion systems, the Academic Promotions Committee at the college, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Division, organized a specialized workshop entitled:
“The electronic system for academic promotions: tasks, roles, and modern mechanisms,”
with the participation of a number of heads of academic departments and teaching staff, in the hall of the late Dr. Hassan Mahawish.
The workshop aimed to explain the mechanisms of the electronic system adopted for scientific promotions and clarify the tasks and responsibilities assigned to the heads of scientific departments and sub-promotion committees, thereby contributing to the accuracy, transparency, and smoothness of academic promotion procedures in accordance with ministerial regulations and instructions.
The workshop was moderated and presented by Prof. Dr. Qahtan Hamid Kazim, Head of the Academic Promotion Committee at the college, and Assistant Professor Dr. Feryal Kazim Daoud, Rapporteur of the Promotion Committee.
The speakers reviewed the latest updates to the electronic system, providing practical explanations of the details of file uploading, scientific output evaluation, promotion requirements, and the role of scientific departments in data verification and documentation of academic activities.
The workshop included a discussion of several topics The first topic provided an introduction to the electronic system for academic promotions and how to use it. The second topic highlighted the roles of authorized departments in preparing and verifying academic files. The third topic explained the tasks and responsibilities of the sub-promotion committees in supporting academic quality. The fourth topic reviewed how to deal with technical and administrative observations in the system. The fifth topic concluded with the new ministerial controls in light of the digital transformation in higher education.
The workshop featured interactive discussions and contributions from participants, who expressed great interest in the topic and asked a number of questions related to practical implementation challenges and the integration of roles between departments and committees.
This workshop is part of the college’s efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, in particular: Goal 4: Quality Education (Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all) and Goal 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure
) through the adoption of electronic systems that contribute to the development of institutional structures and the modernization of academic administration.
