Computer hardware… Computer science students at Diyala University master the art of handling precision components inside computers
As part of the practical training programme for the first semester for students of the Computer Science Department at the Faculty of Basic Education at the University of Diyala, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Division and in coordination with the Media and Government Communication Division, the department organised a practical workshop for third-year students.
The workshop, presented by Prof. Dr. Haider Abdul-Baqi Abbas, Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs and Graduate Studies, aimed to achieve a set of practical and applied objectives, most notably: To directly inform students about the physical parts of a computer (hardware) and how they work, to enhance their manual skills in dealing with hardware components, and to link the theoretical knowledge they have acquired in the classroom with practical reality.
The workshop included an intensive practical component, which consisted of: Theoretical introduction: Each part of the computer was introduced separately (central processing unit, random access memory, motherboard, storage units, etc.). Practical disassembly: Students, under the supervision of the scientific assistant, disassembled computer parts step by step. Reassembly: The parts were reassembled and the mechanism of the computer was explained in detail after correct assembly.
The workshop included a practical application that gave students a unique opportunity to examine the components up close. Participants expressed how much they benefited from this practical workshop, which enhanced their deep understanding of the academic material.
