An Activity about the Supreme Council of Youth
The College of Basic Education, in cooperation with the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (Supreme Council for Youth) and the Youth Ambassadors Team – Diyala (First Circle – Baqubah), organized a special awareness activity entitled: “Together Towards an AIDS-Free Society”.

- Raising awareness and educating community members, especially young people, about ways to prevent HIV.
- Spreading awareness about the ways of transmission of the virus and how to avoid it.
- Discuss the stigma and discrimination associated with the disease and encourage voluntary testing.
The symposium included three themes
. Introducing the Supreme Council for Youth and the Youth Ambassadors team:
The prominent role of the Council and the Youth Ambassadors team in promoting community awareness and implementing awareness-raising activities aimed at advancing youth.
. A lecture on the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV):
A thorough explanation of the nature of the virus, how it spreads, its symptoms, and how to prevent it.
. Stigma, discrimination and voluntary testing:
The lecture addressed the importance of accepting infected patients and the role of society in supporting them, in addition to the importance of early screening and voluntary initiatives that contribute to early detection.
The symposium recommended
- The need to repeat such activities in other regions to expand the circle of education.
- Involve more health and educational organizations to spread awareness more effectively.
