Direct exams for students from the two endowments in Diyala within a transparent academic environment
This morning, the Arabic Language Department at the Faculty of Basic Education at the University of Diyala conducted direct entrance exams for students applying from the Sunni and Shia endowments, as part of the department’s keenness to attract students who are academically and linguistically qualified in accordance with approved academic standards.
The tests included detailed assessment stages, ranging from written exams to oral interviews, where applicants were tested on basic Arabic language skills, including grammar, text comprehension, and written expression, as well as an assessment of their personality and ability to interact in an academic environment through personal interviews.
The department’s examination committee, composed of professors specializing in language, criticism, and rhetoric, emphasized that this step aims to “select the best applicants according to transparent criteria that ensure fairness and academic excellence.”
In a special statement to the Media Division, the committee chair explained:
“We are working to enable students from diverse backgrounds, especially from endowments, to join the department according to precise criteria that ensure equal opportunities and raise the academic level of students.”
He added that during the interviews, the committee took into account “cultural and general knowledge aspects, as well as students’ ability to think critically and analyze literature, which are essential skills for studying Arabic in depth.”
At the conclusion of the tests, the committee chair emphasized that these measures are part of the college’s vision to enhance the quality of education and expand access to it, in line with the fourth goal of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals: “Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all,” noting that the department
