
Towards a sound digital scientific promotion…
A professor from Diyala University presents a workshop at the College of Fine Arts at Diyala University
As part of the scientific and academic cooperation between the faculties of Diyala University, the Scientific Promotions Committee at the College of Fine Arts organized a workshop entitled “The Mechanism for Applying for Scientific Promotions for Employees of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Light of the Electronic Scientific Promotions System” in the interactive hall on Wednesday, October 22, 2025.
The workshop was presented by Prof. Dr. Qahtan Hamid Kazim, Chairman of the Scientific Promotions Committee at the College of Basic Education/University of Diyala, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Jalil Wadi Hamoud, Chairman of the Scientific Promotions Committee at the College of Fine Arts, and a number of faculty members and affiliates.
During the workshop, the lecturer reviewed the detailed steps for electronic submission for scientific promotion, explaining the basic requirements, which begin with a review by the department chair after completing the legal period, through the mechanisms for reviewing research and scientific activities by the relevant committees, to the electronic and paper referral of transactions to the Central Scientific Promotions Committee at the university presidency.
The workshop also included a comprehensive presentation on the stages of applying for various academic titles, starting with the preparation of promotion schedules and the fulfillment of their requirements, through electronic retrieval and the preparation of scientific integrity reports, and ending with the approval of the faculty council and the Central Committee for Academic Promotions at the university presidency within the approved electronic system.
The workshop witnessed extensive discussions between the lecturer and participants on the most prominent challenges facing teachers during the electronic application process, where a set of development proposals were put forward to enhance the efficiency of the electronic system and improve the academic work environment in line with the Ministry of Higher Education’s orientation towards digital transformation.
At the end of the event, the Dean of the College of Fine Arts expressed her thanks and appreciation to the lecturer and the Scientific Promotions Committee for their outstanding efforts in spreading academic knowledge and promoting a culture of scientific research, emphasizing that these workshops represent an important pillar in developing the skills of teachers and raising the level of academic performance at the university.
This workshop is in line with the fourth Sustainable Development Goal (Quality Education), which calls for ensuring inclusive, equitable, and high-quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all, by supporting the development of academic staff skills and the use of digital systems to improve the quality of higher education and scientific research.
