The university president praises the efforts that created a comprehensive educational and cultural day that left a clear educational and humanitarian mark
The President of Diyala University, Prof. Dr. Tahsin Hussein Mubarak, opened the annual cultural festival organised by the Faculty of Basic Education – Kindergarten Department, in celebration of World Children’s Day, which this year came under the slogan: (Let us be a society for them… They deserve their dreams). The festival witnessed a remarkable attendance by civil society organisations, community police, the Palace of Culture and Arts, a number of kindergartens, teachers and students, in a scene that embodied the integration between the university and the community.
The events began with a recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an and Surah Al-Fatihah in memory of the martyrs of Iraq, followed by the national anthem, which added a solemn and festive atmosphere to the opening.
In his speech on the occasion, the University President expressed his great pride in the festival’s meticulous organisation and the diverse events that reflected the University’s growing interest in and care for children, emphasising that raising children who are intellectually and psychologically healthy is the cornerstone of building a stable and strong society. Professor Dr. Tahsin Hussein Mubarak praised the efforts of the organising committees, commending the teamwork and spirit of initiative that was clearly evident in the day’s events.
For his part, the Dean of the Faculty of Basic Education, Assistant Professor Dr. Ayman Abdul Aoun, gave a speech in which he expressed his gratitude to all the supporting parties, emphasising that the faculty places early childhood programmes among its academic and educational priorities, as part of its vision to strengthen partnerships with the local community and develop an educational environment that supports children’s abilities and creativity.
The festival included impressive performances by Riyadh Al-Rahiq, as well as short films addressing children’s rights and the importance of providing a safe and stimulating environment for their development. The events were widely praised by attendees for their humanitarian and educational messages, as well as for their professional organisation and awareness of the value of this international day.
At the end of the events, the university president distributed gifts to the participating children, in an official and humanitarian gesture that brought joy to their hearts and reinforced the festival’s message of caring for children and their rights.
The organisation of this festival is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 on quality education, Goal 16 on protecting children and promoting justice, and Goal 17 on institutional partnerships. This confirms the leading role of the University of Diyala in adopting initiatives that combine its academic mission with its social responsibility.
