
With faithful hearts and sad souls
The Asa family of Diyala stands in tribute to the soul of their deceased student, Isa Hamid Rashid
The Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the Faculty of Basic Education at the University of Diyala organised a solemn memorial service to mourn the soul of their deceased student, Isa Hamid Rashid, a second-year student in the morning programme, who passed away following a sudden and tragic accident.
The ceremony was attended by a large number of officials, including the Dean of the Faculty, Assistant Professor Dr. Ayman Abdul Aoun, his assistants, a number of department heads, lecturers and students, who lined up with hearts filled with sadness to bid farewell to their departed colleague.
The gathering began with a moving speech by the Dean of the Faculty, in which he recalled the virtues of the deceased, his gentle nature and his academic commitment, expressing his deep sorrow and that of the faculty for this great loss that has affected everyone. This was followed by a collective recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah in mercy for his pure soul and prayers for mercy and forgiveness.
Afterwards, the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, Professor Omar Rahman Hamid, delivered a speech in which he expressed his sincere condolences and sympathy to the family and colleagues of the deceased, affirming the faculty’s support for them in their time of grief.
Then, the Head of the Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Nasir Hamid Karim, delivered a moving speech, beginning by expressing the depth of shock that had struck the department’s family at the loss of one of its distinguished members. He emphasised that Isa was not just a number in the attendance records, but an example of a committed, well-mannered and ambitious student who aspired to be a successful teacher in the future. He stressed that this loss was felt by the entire department, that his fond memory would remain in everyone’s hearts, and that his colleagues and professors would miss him.
At the end of the memorial service, the venue resounded with sincere prayers for the deceased, Issa Hamid Rashid, asking God Almighty to envelop him in His mercy, grant him a place in His vast paradise, and inspire his family, relatives and colleagues with patience and solace.
