Teaching participation from Diyala University in a specialised scientific symposium on the Arabic language creates criminal certainty between law and analysis
Dr. Khawla Ibrahim Ahmed, a lecturer in the Arabic Language Department at the Faculty of Basic Education, participated in a specialised scientific symposium entitled:
(The linguistic use of Arabic words in criminal legal texts – an analytical study), within the framework of academic openness to the cognitive overlap between the humanities and law. A number of faculty members and students participated in the seminar.
The seminar was held through a joint effort and scientific cooperation between the Faculty of Law and the Arabic Language Department at the Faculty of Basic Education, forming an effective link between the precision of legal drafting and the depth of linguistic meaning, and highlighting the pivotal role of the Arabic language in the construction of criminal legislative texts.
The symposium included a specialised analytical study presented by Professor Dr. Bushra Abdul Mahdi and lecturer Dr. Khawla Ibrahim Ahmed
The two researchers highlighted the analytical themes of Arabic terms used in Iraqi criminal laws, pointing out that terminology is not a formal element in punitive texts, but rather represent the cornerstone in determining intent, meaning and judgement, emphasising the importance of taking into account the subtleties of grammar, morphology and semantics in the drafting of legal texts, as this has a direct impact on preventing differing interpretations or misinterpretations.
