
A Haven of Hope in Diyala
A seminar exploring the journey of Al-Ain International Foundation from sponsorship to comprehensive community empowerment
In a vivid embodiment of the university’s mission to serve the community and consolidate the values of human solidarity, the Faculty of Basic Education at the University of Diyala – Computer Science Department, in cooperation with the Al-Ain Social Welfare Foundation and in coordination with the Continuing Education and Government Media and Communications Divisions, an extensive introductory seminar on the pioneering role of the Al-Ain International Foundation in achieving social solidarity.
The seminar witnessed active participation from faculty members and students, and was moderated by Dr. Jasb Hassan Aboudi. Mr. Ahmed Thamer Aboud, representative of the Al-Ain Foundation’s Diyala branch, gave a presentation in which he reviewed the foundation’s journey since its inception in 2006, using figures and facts.
The seminar aimed to inform the university community about the Foundation’s major humanitarian achievements, and included a discussion of several key topics, including: The first topic was the roots of the Foundation’s establishment: The foundation’s launch in 2006 and its obtaining authorization from the highest religious authority, Sayyid Ali al-Sistani (may he live long), and international recognition as a consultant to the United Nations. The second topic was child care: a review of the care provided to approximately 207,000 orphans and the provision of integrated services to three categories of orphans (those whose parents died of natural causes, those whose parents were killed in terrorist attacks, and those whose parents were killed in the Popular Mobilization Forces). The third theme highlighted how to build people: it highlighted projects to build housing complexes and provide homes for orphans, as well as health, psychological and vocational rehabilitation centers.
