
Digitizing knowledge in the age of sustainability…
A specialized scientific workshop at Diyala University explores the world of digital repositories
As part of its efforts to enhance scientific research skills and improve the level of academic services, the Faculty of Basic Education at the University of Diyala organized a specialized workshop entitled “Research Techniques and Access to Information in Digital Repositories,” in coordination with the Faculty’s Continuing Education Division and in collaboration with the General Secretariat of the Central Library at the University of Diyala.
The workshop aimed to introduce participants to modern scientific research mechanisms and the importance of digital repositories in supporting graduate studies and academic research projects, as well as developing skills for effective access to electronic sources and information.
The workshop sessions were moderated by Assistant Professor Dr. Laith Abdulstar Ayada, while the lecture was presented by Professor Dr. Salam Jassim Abdullah, Secretary General of the Central Library at the University of Diyala, in which he discussed the types of digital repositories, their mechanisms of operation, and their importance in promoting knowledge exchange and providing free access to information. He also discussed the importance of organizing digital data and its role in achieving integration between educational institutions.
The workshop included a valuable contribution from the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Haider Abdulbaqi Abbas, who emphasized in his speech the importance of keeping pace with digital developments in the higher education sector and encouraging researchers and graduate students to make the most of digital repositories to serve the educational and research process.
The workshop was actively attended by a number of faculty members and graduate students, who showed great interest in the topic by asking questions and making constructive scientific contributions.
