A grand cultural festival combining the authenticity of the past with the aesthetics of the present
The Faculty of Basic Education at the University of Diyala – Arabic Language Department, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Division and the Media and Government Communications Division, organised a grand celebration on the occasion of Day of the Letter ‘D’ (World Arabic Language Day), under the slogan: ‘On Day of the Letter “D”, we celebrate the language of beauty and eloquence’.
The festival witnessed wide participation from elites and scientific figures in the field of Arabic language, professors, and college students, in a prestigious academic and cultural atmosphere.
The celebration began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by the national anthem and the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah while standing in remembrance of the souls of Iraq’s righteous martyrs.
The Dean of the Faculty, Assistant Professor Dr. Ayman Abdul Aoun, then gave a speech in which he welcomed the attendees and affirmed his unlimited support for the Arabic Language Department and all departments of the Faculty in cultural activities that open wider horizons for creativity and excellence. He concluded his speech by expressing his sincere thanks to those in charge of this celebration and to the attendees.
The ceremony included a documentary film about the Arabic language (prepared by Prof. Abdul Hussein Ahmed Al-Khafaji, edited by M.M. Ahmed Sadiq Jafar, narrated by university professor Muhammad Raad Hussein), which gathered fragments from the history of our language, the beauty of its expression, and the breadth of its horizons.
