
Towards a safe academic compass
Diyala University organises an orientation seminar for new students on campus values
The Faculty of Basic Education at Diyala University – Guidance Unit, in cooperation with the Department of Psychological Guidance and Educational Guidance and the Continuing Education Division, and in coordination with the Media and Government Communication Division, organised an awareness seminar for first-year students entitled: ‘Guidance for first-year students in the context of their commitment to campus values’.
The seminar witnessed active participation by a number of faculty members and new students. The seminar, which was moderated by Dr. Tayf Ali Ibrahim and presented by Prof. Dr. Bushra Enad Mubarak, aimed to facilitate the integration of new students into university life, enhance their understanding of campus values, and instil positive behaviours that ensure a safe and stimulating learning environment. It also sought to clarify university regulations and instructions and mechanisms for effective communication with departments and administrative units.
The seminar included a discussion of several key topics, including: student rights and duties, university rules of conduct, the importance of maintaining public facilities, and an introduction to the counselling and psychological services available at the college.
The seminar included contributions from participants, with new students asking questions and raising concerns about university life, which were answered by the speakers, helping to create an atmosphere of familiarity and direct communication.
