Dean of Basic Education at Diyala University participates in meeting of deans in Kufa … Unified steps towards advanced university education
Assistant Professor Dr. Ayman Abdul Aoun, Dean of the Faculty of Basic Education at the University of Diyala, participated in the second meeting of the Committee of Deans of Basic Education Faculties in Iraqi Universities for 2025, hosted by the Faculty of Basic Education at the University of Kufa, The meeting was chaired by Professor Dr. Qusay Abdul Abbas Al-Abeid, Dean of the Faculty of Basic Education at Al-Mustansiriya University, with the participation of 16 deans from various Iraqi universities.
The meeting was attended by the President of Kufa University, Prof. Dr. Alaa Al-Mawla, and committee member and Dean of the Faculty of Basic Education at Kufa University, Prof. Dr. Maytham Al-Hamami, along with a number of prominent academic figures.
The meeting began with a welcome speech by the President of Kufa University, in which he expressed his pride in hosting this important academic event, praising the efforts made by the deans of the faculties in supporting the educational process, and at the same time affirming the university’s full support for all initiatives and plans aimed at developing the reality of basic education faculties in Iraq.
The meeting agenda addressed a number of vital issues, most notably: the creation of new academic departments, the expansion of postgraduate programs, the updating of curricula, the review of academic staff, and the coordination of efforts to unify educational plans among basic education colleges throughout the country.
In a statement, Prof. Dr. Maytham Al-Hamami, Dean of the Faculty of Basic Education at the University of Kufa, emphasized that “the meeting represented an important step towards achieving unified national coordination for the development of higher basic education, in line with the vision of the Ministry of Higher Education, and contributes to raising the quality of curricula and updating academic programs to keep pace with the requirements of the times and the labor market. “
He added: “We at the Faculty of Basic Education are committed to our leading role in developing educational programs and strengthening partnerships with other faculties to serve the educational process in Iraq.”
Assistant Professor Dr. Ayman Abdul Aoun, Dean of the College of Basic Education at the University of Diyala, also noted that the meeting “addressed important issues related to updating curricula and establishing clear mechanisms for the committee’s work during the coming phase, within a framework of constructive academic cooperation and understanding.”
The meeting concluded by emphasizing the importance of continuing to hold regular meetings of the Committee of Deans of Basic Education Faculties, given their active role in promoting scientific and educational integration among universities and supporting the objectives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in advancing the level of education in Iraq.
The outcomes of this meeting are in line with the fourth Sustainable Development Goal, which calls for “ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all.” These meetings contribute to the development of educational policies, the improvement of the quality of education, and the expansion of opportunities for higher education, reflecting the commitment of Iraqi universities to achieving sustainable development in the education sector.
