
Mr. President of the University participates in the opening of the Iraq Education 2025 Conference
The President of Diyala University participates in the opening of the Iraq Education 2025 Conference and affirms that education is the foundation for building nations and advancing progress
The President of Diyala University, Prof. Dr. Tahseen Hussein Mubarak, participated today, Saturday, October 11, 2025 in the opening of the second edition of the Iraq Education 2025 Conference, which was held under the patronage and in the presence of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi, with the broad participation of international experts and representatives of Times, Clarivate, Elsevier, QS, and the Egyptian Knowledge Bank.
In his opening speech, His Excellency the Minister emphasized that what has been achieved over the past three years in the higher education and scientific research sector represents a qualitative shift in the philosophy of university education, bringing Iraqi universities into the realm of international recognition and making them part of the global academic map. He pointed out that the current phase is characterized by “achievement and leadership,” in which the long-standing scientific identity of Iraqi universities is integrated with their future vision and the requirements of global knowledge development.
For his part, the President of Diyala University emphasized that education is the cornerstone of nation building and progress, and the path to sustainable development and social welfare, stressing the importance of Iraqi universities being an active and influential part of the global academic system. He explained that Diyala University is confidently striving for excellence in education, scientific research, and community service through quality academic programs and applied research that contribute to addressing national and regional issues.
The conference included the honoring of the winners of the Iraqi Science Day Awards in collaboration with the Clarivate International Foundation. The awards included categories such as: the university distinguished in institutional performance and scientific research, the distinguished researcher, and the distinguished scientific association. A number of distinguished researchers from the Universities of Technology, Diyala, Kufa, and Basra won the Distinguished Researcher Award, while researchers from the Universities of Babylon, Diyala, Al-Mustansiriya, and Al-Qasim Al-Khadra won the Distinguished Research Award.
The participation of Diyala University in this conference is in line with the fourth Sustainable Development Goal (Quality Education), which calls for ensuring equitable and inclusive quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all, affirming the university’s role in supporting the national path towards achieving sustainable development in Iraq.
