
Artificial intelligence opens doors to excellence
A specialised scientific symposium at Diyala University reveals the secrets of institutional quality
The Faculty of Basic Education at Diyala University, Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Division and the Media and Government Communication Division, organised a specialised scientific seminar entitled “Artificial Intelligence and Quality: A Journey Towards Institutional Excellence,” delivered by Professor Dr. Uday Karim Al-Amiri, in the presence of the department’s teaching staff and postgraduate students, in an academic step aimed at enhancing knowledge of the latest technological developments and their impact on the quality of education and institutional excellence.
The seminar aimed to clarify the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in improving overall quality within educational institutions, and to familiarise participants with how to use AI tools and technologies to raise the level of educational and administrative performance, thereby contributing to the preparation of a generation of students with scientific and professional competence capable of serving society effectively.
The seminar included discussions on several key topics: The first topic presented an understanding of the fundamentals of artificial intelligence and its applications in higher education. The second topic highlighted the relationship between AI and overall quality in educational institutions. The third topic explained strategies for institutional excellence and the role of technology in achieving them. The fourth topic highlighted the development of students’ and administrators’ skills in dealing with modern technologies.
The symposium recommended the need to integrate artificial intelligence tools into teaching and academic management processes. It also recommended strengthening training programmes and workshops for students and teachers on the effective use of AI. Furthermore, it recommended supporting scientific research related to artificial intelligence applications to improve the quality of educational institutions.
This symposium is in line with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, in particular: Goal 4: Quality education, by developing the abilities of students and teachers to use modern technology. Goal 9: Industry, innovation and infrastructure, by supporting innovation and the use of artificial intelligence tools in education and institutional development.
