
A Scientific symposium about the Academic Quality Assurance
Scientific symposium at Diyala University highlights academic quality assurance as a commitment and innovation towards institutional excellence and sustainable development
The Faculty of Basic Education at the University of Diyala – Diyala Branch of the Academics Union, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Division and in coordination with the Media and Government Communication Division, organized a scientific symposium entitled “Quality Assurance: Commitment and Innovation,” with broad participation from faculty members of all departments and heads of scientific departments.
The seminar, presented by Prof. Dr. Uday Karim Rahman, Prof. Dr. Arshad Adham Ahmed, Assistant Prof. Dr. Ihab Nafeh Kamel, and Assistant Lecturer Alaa Nazih Muhammad, aimed to establish the concepts of quality assurance in academic institutions, promote a culture of commitment to approved educational standards, and encouraging innovation in the development of academic and administrative performance, thereby contributing to the improvement of higher education outcomes.
The seminar included discussions on several topics: The first topic explained the mechanisms for applying institutional quality standards in higher education. The second topic discussed the role of innovation in developing the academic work environment. The third topic reviewed the challenges facing quality units in colleges and ways to address them. The fourth topic concluded with the importance of adhering to academic accreditation standards to achieve institutional excellence.
The Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Ayman Abdul Aoun, praised the efforts of those who organized the symposium, appreciating the interaction of the participants and their contribution to enriching the scientific discussion, stressing that such events contribute to raising the level of academic and administrative performance within the college.
The symposium witnessed constructive scientific interventions and questions from the audience, which were answered by the lecturers and organizers in an atmosphere characterized by positive dialogue and fruitful academic interaction.
At the end of the symposium, the importance of adopting the concepts of quality and innovation as a sustainable approach in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) was emphasized, particularly Goal 4 on “Quality Education” and Goal 9 on “Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure,” given their direct impact on the development of the higher education system and the quality of its performance.
