A shuttlecock flies through the air at Diyala University in a competitive tournament that brings together teachers and students in an exciting competition
As part of the Student Activities Division programme – Sports Unit at the Faculty of Basic Education, and in collaboration with the Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, a badminton tournament was organised for teachers and students, in an event aimed at promoting community interaction and developing the physical skills of the participants.
The tournament saw the participation of a number of faculty members and students, who competed in an enthusiastic sporting atmosphere, reflecting the faculty’s interest in providing a university environment that supports physical activity and public health. The tournament was organised in line with the Student Activities Division’s vision of encouraging teamwork and building bridges of communication between faculty members and students through various sporting events.
These activities aim to develop motor skills, establish the concept of sport as a way of life, and promote education and values in the university environment, thereby contributing to the creation of a balanced educational environment that focuses on the academic and physical development of students.
At the end of the tournament, the winners were presented with their awards by the Dean of the Faculty, Assistant Professor Dr. Ayman Abdul Aoun, and the Head of the Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, Assistant Professor Dr. Nasir Hamid Karim, who praised the level of organisation and participation, emphasising the importance of continuing such events that support student movement and meaningful university activities.
This event is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being, Goal 4: Quality Education, Goal 5: Gender Equality (as participation is mixed), and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals, through promoting cooperation between the various units of the college.
