A training course at Diyala University empowers students with artificial intelligence tools in the digital knowledge race
In a proactive step to keep pace with the technological revolution and adapt it to serve scientific research, the Faculty of Basic Education at Diyala University – Computer Science Department, in collaboration with the Continuing Education and Government Media and Communication Divisions, an intensive training course in the audio laboratory on ‘Basic Skills in the Use of Artificial Intelligence in University Studies,’ which lasted for two consecutive days with the active participation of the department’s students.
The course, which was lectured by Assistant Professor Dr. Shimaa Taha Ahmed (Head of the Computer Science Department) and Lecturer Dr. Aqil Thamer Jawad, aimed to break the barrier of traditional learning and provide students with the basic skills to deal with artificial intelligence technologies and how to use them responsibly in formulating research, organising study, and reducing cognitive effort while maintaining complete academic integrity.
The course included discussions on several vital topics, including: Technical introduction: Introduction to the most suitable generative artificial intelligence tools for university students in 2025. Digital ethics: mechanisms for safe and fair use to avoid scientific plagiarism. Practical applications: how to formulate programming ‘commands’ to obtain accurate results in scientific disciplines.
