
Dr. Oday Participates in the Union Election
Representative of the Iraqi Academics Union in the Diyala University Council participates in the union’s general conference and elections for the third term of the union president
Professor Dr. Uday Karim Al-Amiri, representative of the Iraqi Academics Union in the Diyala University Council and lecturer in the Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the College of Basic Education, participated in the general conference of the Iraqi Academics Union, which saw the renewal of confidence in the president of the Iraqi Academics Union and the election of his deputy and members of the central board of directors.
The conference was held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, in accordance with the Iraqi Academics Union Law No. (61) of 2017, and within the specified legal deadlines. the elections for the president of the Iraqi Academics Union, his deputy, and the members of the central board of directors were held under the supervision of a designated judge and a central supervisory committee, with broad participation from members of the union’s general conference from various Iraqi provinces.
The electoral process took place in a transparent and democratic atmosphere that reflected a spirit of cooperation and high academic responsibility. Dr. Ali Masir Yassin won the confidence of the majority of the members of the General Conference as president of the Iraqi Academics Union for the third term, while Dr. Idris Ibrahim Al-Juhayashi won the position of vice president after receiving the majority of the conference votes.
Professor Dr. Uday Karim Al-Amiri emphasized that this participation represents the embodiment of sound academic democratic practice and strengthens the union’s role in supporting professors and researchers in higher education institutions, noting that the success of the elections reflects the maturity of union awareness and academic responsibility among the general body.
This event comes in the context of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 16: “Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions,” by promoting governance, transparency, and institutional participation in professional and academic organizations.
