Dr. Othman Publishes a Book
An Introduction to Philosophy… A cross-university publication in Diyala reshapes critical awareness
A new academic book entitled Philosophy: A Contemporary Reading of Concepts and Foundations has recently been published. It is co-authored by Assistant Professor Dr. Othman Saadoun Jassim, who teaches in the Arabic Language Department at the Faculty of Basic Education, University of Diyala, and Assistant Professor Dr. Raed Ramthan Hussein, who teaches at the Faculty of Basic Education, University of Sumer.
The book was published by Dar Al-Sadiq Cultural Publishing and Distribution in Babil Province, one of the scientific publishing houses known for its serious academic publications in the fields of philosophy and humanities.
The book is divided into five chapters covering a range of fundamental and contemporary philosophical themes, including: The emergence of philosophical thought and its historical development, concepts of reason, existence, and knowledge, ethical and political philosophy, an overview of the most prominent schools of modern and postmodern philosophy, as well as an explanation of philosophy and its relationship to science and technology in the digital age.
This publication is a valuable addition to the Arab academic library, as it is characterized by its systematic analytical language and critical approach, which enhances the reader’s understanding of contemporary philosophical trends, linking them to current cognitive and human realities. It is also a systematic textbook used in basic education colleges.
In a special statement, Dr. Othman emphasized that this work is the result of joint scientific cooperation that reflects the importance of academic integration between Iraqi universities, noting that the book can be an authoritative reference for undergraduate and graduate students in philosophy and humanities departments.
It is worth noting that the publication of this book is in line with the fourth Sustainable Development Goal, which calls for “ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all.”
