Diyala University launches an intensive development course to hone the skills of science teachers
As part of the practical development curriculum of the Science Department in the first semester for fourth-year students, the department, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Division and the Media and Government Communications Division, organised an intensive development course entitled: ‘Important aspects for the success of science teachers’.
The course lasts for three days and saw wide participation from teachers and students on its first day. It aims to build students’ capacities and provide them with the modern educational knowledge and skills necessary to be successful and influential teachers in the future.
The first day featured lectures by a select group of specialist professors, including Professor Faleh Abdul Hassan Owaid, Assistant Professor Dr. Israa Akef Ali Al-Obaidi, and Assistant Professor Dr. Najat Hamdi Abdullah.
The course included discussions on several key topics designed to enhance the professional aspect of teaching: The first topic, ‘Introduction to the Five-Year Plan and the Importance of Mastering It,’ focused on how to strategically plan the educational process in the short and long term. The second topic, ‘Communication skills and their relationship to the success of the educational process,’ addressed the importance of effective communication between teachers and students in creating a stimulating classroom environment. The third theme highlighted the importance of active learning and the role of teachers in it, along with test preparation skills. It reviewed modern teaching strategies and how to assess students effectively and fairly.
