A workshop at Diyala University outlines strategies for overcoming fear and boosting self-confidence
In a journey of self-discovery and personal skills development, the Faculty of Basic Education at Diyala University – Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Division and in coordination with the Media and Government Communication Division, a qualitative workshop on ‘How to Develop Self-Confidence Skills,’ attended by a remarkable number of teachers and students aspiring to acquire the tools of influence and leadership.
The workshop, which was presented by Professor Maha Mohammed Saleh, aimed to decipher the term ‘self-confidence’ and transform it from a theoretical concept into daily practice by empowering students with psychological and behavioural tools that make them more confident in their abilities and influence in their academic and social environments.
The workshop addressed a comprehensive roadmap for enhancing personal presence, discussing vital topics including: Body language and appearance: the importance of taking care of one’s appearance, walking with confidence, and sitting in the front rows to break the barrier of isolation. Self-management and gratitude: keeping a daily ‘gratitude journal,’ organising one’s schedule to reduce distractions, and striving for financial independence. In addition to using mental strength and communication: training to speak in a loud and confident voice, practising ‘meditation’ to relieve stress, and the role of sport in charging positive energy.
